Purpose of the Math & Science Club
The Math & Science club was created to foster a further interest in the areas of Mathematics and Science as well as to be the body in charge of academic competitions such as Academic Quiz Bowls or Science Olympiads. It is also meant to teach Community Service and increase positive student interactions.
Qualifications for being in Math & Science Club
Club Events
Below is a list of events that are possible for you to participate in as a member of the Math & Science Club. You do not need to be involved in all of the below activities, however, one of the qualifications to participate in the high school trip (taken every two years) is that you need to have participated in at least two of the following events each of the two years (trip year and year prior to the trip).

Yearly Fundraisers
A minimum of $30 must be raised by each member of the club each year to qualify for any trip. Students have the option of raising more than $30 each year if they desire.
T-Shirts
T-Shirts are ordered every other year to help defray the cost for students/parents. This current year we will be ordering new shirts at a cost of $20.00 each.

- Should have some interest in Math or Science or helping with the youth of our community

Meetings
- Meetings are typically announced in both the daily announcements and via our “Math & Science Club” whiteboard located outside Mrs. Buchanan’s room in the hallway. Students should attend all meetings when physically possible. If students are unable to attend, it is your responsibility obtain information discussed during that meeting.
Junior High Club Trip:
- The junior high trip is a “one-day” trip where we go to an educational location for tour or event. Past trips include but aren’t limited to: Mammoth Hall, Ash falls Fossil Beds, & Edgerton Explorit Center.
Guidelines to go on the trip:
- Must be a member of the Math & Science Club.
- Must be a 7th or 8th grader at St. Paul Public School
- Must have done a fundraiser (see fundraising options below)
- Must be in good academic standing (eligibility policy, etc…)
- The high school trip is typically a four-day trip to Colorado where we tour many different places throughout Colorado. Past trips have included but aren't limited to: Garden of the Gods, Estes Park, Royal Gorge, Elitche Gardens, Aquarium, Cave tour, etc…
Guidelines to go on the trip:
- Must be a member of the Math & Science Club for at least the year prior to the trip and the trip year.
- Must be a 9th - 12th grader at St. Paul Public Schools
- Must have done at least one fundraiser (outlined below) for at least the year prior to trip and the trip year.
- Must be in good academic standing (eligibility policy, etc…)
- Must have taken part in two of the above club “activities” each year prior to trip and the trip year.
- Fund raise (or just pay) for the student expense of the trip that isn't covered by the club at the end of our two year trip cycle. Each student is required to pay or fund raise $250 for their trip cost. Students may pay this amount when it is due or do extra fundraising for this amount prior to the trip. Fundraising is available for those that cannot afford to pay or wish to raise funds for the cost of the trip.
Yearly Fundraisers

- Candy Sales (sell 75 candy bars at $1.00 each) = $30 raised
- Atlas Sales (sell 3 atlases at $10.00 each) = $30 raised
- Window Clings (sell 15 clings for $3.00 each.) = $30 raised
- Shirts (sell 3 shirts from our shirt box at $10.00 each) = $30 raised
- Rugs (sell 2 at $15 each) = $30 raised
- Do any combination of the above to raise $30
- If you do not wish to fund raise you can pay your dues of $30.00 to the Math & Science club each year and not do any fundraising to be a member.
